Sierras de Mazán S.A.
Sierras de Mazán is a diversified, vertically integrated agricultural project located in La Rioja, Argentina. Starting in 1993 with 12,000 acres of semi-desert land in a remote valley nestled against the foothills of the Andes, Sierras de Mazán has developed large scale production of olives, wine grapes and other agricultural crops. In the 1990s Sierras de Mazán planted 4,500 acres of olive groves on two farms using Mediterranean varieties adapted to the local climate and conditions, and propagated at our own nursery. Thanks to excellent growing conditions, state of the art drip irrigation technology and modern agricultural techniques, Sierras de Mazán now produces over 25,000 tons of olives annually. In 2002 Sierras de Mazán inaugurated Argentina's most modern olive oil processing plant and today with production of more than 1,500 tons of olive oil yearly, we are the country's leading exporter of high-quality olive oil. Sierras de Mazán is also a leading exporter of table olives. In 2006 the company broke ground on the construction of a modern table olive processing plant in the province of La Rioja. Sierras de Mazán pays special attention to the protection of the environment and has instituted rigorous programs of Best Manufacturing Practices BPM, EUREGAP (Control of Agricultural Practices) and HACCP. Our products are Kosher certified.
