Assessing the Impacts of Some Sustainable Agricultural Practices for Yield Improvement on Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.)
Three N rates; 150, 200 and 250 kg fed-1, two in-row spacing's 1 of 20 and 30 cm and three planting dates starting from January 15 with two weeks interval were investigated in two field experiments under El-Fayoum conditions which is not potato production district in Egypt. Results cleared that, N application at 150 kg fed-1 was satisfactory on total tubers yield and most of its components. In-row spacing of 20 cm, significantly, surpassed 30 cm in total tubers yield fed-1 and number of tubers plant-1. Seed planting date on Jan. 30, significantly, produced higher total tubers yield fed 1 and its components compared to Jan. 15 and Feb. 14. The combined treatment of seed planting date on Jan. 30 plus in-row spacing of 20 cm coupled with 200 and/or 250 kg N fed-1 gained the best significant mean value of total tubers yield fed-1.
