Today, Rock Ridge Farms grows over one thousand acres of Covington sweet potatoes, a portion of which are certified organic, as well as six thousand acres of cotton, soybeans, corn, wheat and peanuts combined. Our strong ties to local and family owned sweet potato farms provide additional acres. We also offer other premium varieties to accommodate our customer’s needs. Offering a year-round supply, our services cross international borders with the majority of our supply going to the United Kingdom and other parts of Europe.
Sweet corn is a highly perishable crop. When produced for commercial markets, it must be cooled immediately and thoroughly after harvest to protect its quality. It must be kept cool until it reaches the consumer. Mishandling sweet corn causes serious and irreversible deterioration in quality and loss of sweetness and tenderness. Because temperatures are usually high in midsummer when sweet corn is harvested in North Carolina, growers, shippers, and processors must have access to cooling equipment and must have knowledge of proper cooling and handling methods.

Wamu Investments is an indigenous private company founded in 1989 that produces and exports fresh fruits and vegetables to Europe and the Middle East. It is registered by the Horticultural Crop Development Authority of Kenya and is a member of the Fresh Produce Association of Kenya among others.
The company gets its produce from its own five farms located in different regions of the country at different altitudes. This ensures that we are able to grow different products all year around.

Sweet corn is a crop that lends itself well to small-scale and part-time farming operations. Initial investment is relatively low, and many field operations - such as land preparation, planting, and harvesting - can be custom-hired. Equipment needs on a small-acreage farm are not very great, and most of the equipment can be used for other purposes.
